Obsessed with HBO‘s ‘Insecure? You may need to exercise your patience for the show’s fourth season.
It’s confirmed that the Issa Rae drama will be back, but it won’t return to screens again until 2020.
Confirmation of the show’s hiatus came courtesy of HBO programming chief Casey Bloys. During an interview with Vulture, he cited the increasingly packed plate of its lead Rae as the need for a break: “Well, Issa became a big movie star! We’re not the first place to deal with this, but when you’re in business with very creative and talented people, there’s a lot more opportunities for people to do things. Issa, I think, partly wanted a break to come back to it fresh.”
As it stands, Rae (whose new movie ‘Little’ just hit screens worldwide), is developing two new shows for HBO and is gearing up to star in the film ‘The Photograph’ alongside LaKeith Stanfield. Hence, it’s genuinely busy times.
