The Dallas County district attorney is considering charging Amber Guyger with stronger charges, including murdering the wake of the shooting death of Botham Shem Jean.
According to CNN, Dallas D.A. Faith Johnson stated that she will present a “full case” to a grand jury against Guyger so that the grand jury panel could weigh “all aspects” of the case. Officials confirmed Sunday the identity of the officer who shot and killed Botham Jean on Thursday night.
Officer Amber Guyger was arrested Sunday night on a charge of manslaughter in Jean’s death. Guyger, a four-year veteran of the Dallas PD was charged after she entered Jean’s apartment believing it to be hers on Thursday before firing two shots. Jean died at the hospital.
Texas Rangers have officially taken over the case after obtaining the warrant from a judge. Guyger posted bail and was released within the hour.
