On Sunday Grammy’s telecast, a statement to women about being more active in the community and to “step up”, has received backlash including from an artist who wanted to perform on the live show.
After news spread about Lorde, who was nominated for album of the year, being denied the chance to perform her own material at Sunday night’s show has gotten a response from fans and artists. Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich addressed her absence from the stage, saying, “She had a great album, album of the year is a big honor, but there’s no way we can really deal with everybody. Sometimes people get left out that shouldn’t, but on the other hand, we did the best we can to make sure that it’s a representative and balanced show.”
Lorde decided to post on Twitter addressing her lack of a performance, encouraging fans to attend her Melodrama World Tour with a link to tickets to her tour, which features Run the Jewels and Mitski.
IF YOU’RE DEBATING WHETHER OR NOT I CAN MURDER A STAGE… COME SEE IT FOR URSELF 😇https://t.co/BeS8VYTynn
