‘Black Panther’ to Return To Theaters For Free During Black History Month

Black Panther fans will be able to experience the Marvel film on the big screen again and this time, the tickets are free!

Yesterday (January 28), AMC Theaters announced 250 of its participating locations will be screening the action-packed movie twice a day from February 1-7 in honor of Black History Month. Additionally, the cinema company has also pledged a $1.5 million grant to the United Negro College Fund.

“Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success,Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger said in a press release. “The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences, and to support UNCF with a $1.5 million grant to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.”

The news comes fresh off the 2018 box office breakout’s historic win at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards this weekend, as Black Panther took home the highest honors of the nightincluding Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

It marks the first time a superhero movie has ever earned the guild’s top prize.
