The latest in the saga of R. Kelly has him being dropped by his label.
Variety reports that the Sony Records has officially dissolved its near 30 decade partnership with the star. No formal announcement is expected to be made in the immediate future, nor will there be a formal removal of his name from his label’s website (as is oft practice for dropped” acts). This, it seems, may have something to do with the same report’s claim that Kelly’s back-catalog will remain with Sony’s RCA imprint.
The development comes after the much touted calls to #MuteRKelly and an outpouring of fury targeted at the 52-year-old following Lifetime‘s docu-series ‘Surviving R. Kelly.’
