If you find coming to the shelter a bit overwhelming, then we have an alternative for you so you can still find your new best friend. This Fri, Sat & Sun (Sep 10-12) , we will have many of our wonderful adoptable pets at both the Montgomery and Prattville PETsMARTs in celebration of the PetSmart Charities® Second Chance for Love National Adoption Weekend! Our biggest goal during these adoption events is to find lifetime and loving home for our pets and PETsMART also donates $35 back to our shelter for every adoption which is just a tremendous bonus! Look for our staff, volunteers and pets to be at each location on Fri from noon – 5 pm; Sat 11 am – 4 pm and Sun 1 pm – 4 pm. We always need volunteers to help us at these events so if you can lend a hand for a few hours on one of these days, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Charline Pope at popecharlie@russellcorp.com.
Sunday, Sep 5th, members and supporters of The Predator’s Motorcycle Association brought us a $5038 check from the 2010 Cruisin ‘fer Critters! Our shelter is definitely blessed to have such a wonderful group of animal lovers in our corner. Donations like these help ensure that we can do even more for the animals in our care. The Predator’s are already looking ahead to Cruisin ‘fer Critters 2011 and we’ll fill you in on those details as they become available.
Bark in the Park is right around the corner at Ft. Toulouse in Wetumpka on Sunday, 26 September from 1-5 pm! Join us for an afternoon of fun for pet lovers with great food, pet contests, children’s games, live music, vendors, demonstrations, exhibits and so much more! Vendor space is only $35 (vendors must also have an Elmore County business license) and admission is $5 for those 13 and older. We will have a microchip clinic from 2 – 4 pm for a cost of $25 per dog which will cover the microchip and registration. All dogs must be leashed, good in public and have a current rabies tag on their collar. In the event of severe weather, the backup date for Bark in the Park is Sunday, 3 October 2010, still at Ft. Jeremy is a five-month old little guy who is just adorable with his short stubby legs. His mom looked like a Golden Retriever on short legs, and we think dad was a Labrador. He is about 15-20 lbs, very playful, great with dogs and cats and just loves everyone! Our adoption fee for dogs is $100 and for cats is $80 which completely covers the mandatory spay or neuter, basic immunizations, de-worming, microchip, heartworm check for dogs, rabies vaccination if old enough, and a free health exam.
